Unlike many other villages there was never a relief center in Antsirabe. The structure of aid or protection for children requires an extention of their family environment. Often , the child majistrates not have any other alternative other than to make abandoned or orphaned children live in adult prisons, exposing the children to the risks of physical attack. The project of creating a building which would welcome children in difficult situations was led by two Madagascans. One takes the job of intervening with women and children who are imprisoned, the other runs an alternative training center for adolesents excluded from the normal school system. The local authorities and the organisations that intervene directly or indirectly with the exclusion of these targeted children are involved in our work. Unfortunately these groups lack clarity concerning the best solution for protecting children , this lack of clarity hinders the accomplishment of our respective missions. The center, which opened in 2004 welcomes maltreated children; children with parents in prison or children convicted of minor theft (this is commonly theft of food because of malnutrition). All these children were placed infront of a majistrate who decides their fate. This project remains in demand and it will soon be necessary to increase capacity to 40 beds  Photos AMADEA - 2004©
